One of the toughest parts of my job is telling people that
no matter what reason / excuse they come up with as to why they are
not fit and healthy right now – it’s no one else’s fault but theirs.
[wince / cringe]
When I say this the knee jerk response is never great.
People go into ‘defensive’ mode.
please hear me out…….
The reason being, for most is that they have convinced themselves [over time] that it IS NOT their fault.
- Not enough time.
- Kids need me.
- Too busy at work.
- Not enough money.
- Shoulder hurts.
- Bad back.
- Blood pressure.
I have heard them all.
And they are all false beliefs.
Time? – get up 20 minutes earlier and workout.
Money – there are thousands of videos on youtube that you can follow and they’re FREE!
Bad back / shoulder / any other health problem – focus on what you can do rather than what you can’t. If guys with no arms and no legs can figure out how to still exercise then so can pretty much everyone else.
The fact is that for some it’s harder than it is for others.
We all have our challenges
It’s how we choose to react to them that determines our overall success.
When you accept 100% responsibility for current health / fitness / size.
Then you are EMPOWERED to then commit to CHANGE.
Until you do this and give yourself the power back, you will always find something / someone else to blame.
