One of the things that used to frustrate the hell out of me when I was fat, lazy and unhealthy was that deep down I knew that was capable of more.
I knew that I wasn’t put on this earth to eat crap food and drink too much wine – and not look after myself.
This was at a time when our 2 kids were young and so it was easy to use them as my excuse.
But then one day I was watching an Oprah Winfrey show on TV and the topic was about how Mums inspire their kids.
It showed story after story of these Mums that used to be like I was at that time and then they had become focused and motivated to change.
- To start exercising.
- To start eating healthier.
- To lose weight.
- To start setting goals – and achieving them.
- To share their goals and talk about the inevitable struggles with them.
It was so moving that I actually started crying.
I was crying because I knew that I wasn’t doing any of the above and therefore felt that I wasn’t inspiring my kids.
I didn’t want them to start getting older and use my lack of the above as a reason for them not setting goals or not getting fit and healthy.
Little did I realise that I would then go on to not only get myself fitter, healthier and stronger but I would end up helping thousands of other ladies do the same.
I’m telling you now – if Oprah made a come back and was inviting guests on to her new show ‘How Mums Inspire Their Kids’, I would be on the first flight to Chicago tomorrow.
