Why Strength Training Is Your Best Friend Through Menopause

If your body has started feeling like it belongs to someone else, you’re not alone. Hot flushes, broken sleep, stubborn weight around the middle, and that low mood that creeps in from nowhere. Menopause and perimenopause can knock your confidence, and it’s easy to stop moving just when your body needs it most.

The good news is that you don’t need hours on a treadmill. One of the kindest things you can do for yourself right now is to get stronger.

1. Muscle is your metabolism’s best friend

As our hormones change, we tend to lose muscle. Regular strength work helps you hold on to it, which makes it easier to manage your weight and keeps you feeling capable in everyday life, from carrying the shopping to chasing the kids.

2. Strong bones, strong you

Weight-bearing exercise is widely recommended for bone health, and that matters more and more as we get older. Squats, lunges and lifting are great for building that strength.

3. A mood lift you can feel

Lots of our ladies tell us their sessions are the best part of their week. You get some time for you, a good laugh, and that feeling of having done something positive for yourself.

Start small and be consistent

Two or three sessions a week is plenty to get going. Focus on good form rather than heavy weights, and build up gradually.

At Fitter Body Ladies our coaches are training with The Menopause Movement, so you’ll be in a supportive group of women who get it. No judgement and no intimidating gym floor, just friendly 45-minute sessions designed around you.
