Let’s be honest: when you’re juggling work, school runs and a family who all want something different for tea, the last thing you need is a calculator next to your plate. The good news is that eating well doesn’t have to mean apps, scales or separate “diet meals” just for you.
Here are three simple habits our ladies swear by.
1. Build your plate, don’t measure it
Aim for roughly half your plate as veg or salad, a quarter as protein (chicken, fish, eggs, beans or lean mince) and a quarter as carbs like potatoes, rice or wholegrain pasta. It works for the whole family, and nobody feels like they’re on a diet.
2. Put protein first
Including protein at every meal helps keep you fuller for longer and supports the muscle you’re building in your sessions. Try eggs or Greek yoghurt at breakfast instead of grabbing toast on the run.
3. Plan for the 4pm slump
That’s usually when the biscuit tin calls. Keep easy snacks ready, like fruit, a handful of nuts, cheese and crackers, or some chopped veg and hummus. Being prepared beats relying on willpower every time.
Progress, not perfection
One takeaway or a slice of birthday cake won’t undo your hard work. What matters is what you do most of the time, so enjoy the treat and get back on track at the next meal.
Food is one of the three pillars of our FBL 3F System. Our family-friendly meal plans were created with UK nutritionists, so you can cook one meal for everyone and still see results.
